Moldovan parliament discusses, approves new draft Customs Code

Chisinau, 16 July /MOLDPRES/ - The draft of the new Customs Code was discussed and approved in parliament in the first reading today.
The opposition criticized the document.
The new Customs Code is meant to systematize the customs legislation and will comprise the present Customs Code, the law on the customs tariff and the law on the introduction and taking out of goods from Moldova by private people. The new code has 11 titles, divided in chapters and sections, having more than 1,000 pages.
The draft of the new Customs Code of Moldova was elaborated during three years by various teams of governmental institutions, including the Finance Ministry, Customs Service, jointly with World Bank experts. The draft was worked out taking into account the good practices and is close to the provisions of the European Union’s Customs Code.
The first Customs Code of Moldova was approved in 1993 and the second one – in 2000.
