Opportunities of developing economic cooperation between Moldova and Eurasian Economic Union member states discussed in Minsk

Chisinau, 17 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today participated in a meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), held in Minsk. The event brought together heads of government of the EEU member states; Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
„This platform provides to Moldova, in its capacity of country with status of observer in EEU, an additional framework for discussing ways of boosting the commercial and economic relations with the states from the region. The regional cooperation is necessary for Moldova, including to back the efforts nationally for developing the potential of export of native products and carry out joint investment projects,’’ PM Chicu said.
In his speech, the Moldovan prime minister stressed the importance for Moldova to actively promote the Strategy of the country’s industrialization, which will contribute to the creation of supplementary premises for attracting investors in Moldova. In particular, the PM referred to the fact that 16 industrial platforms are to be created in Moldovan districts, providing needed facilities for doing business.
The officials discussed the actions necessary to remove the constraints to the transports of goods in the region. Moldova’s state policies in this sector are oriented towards integration into the international corridors. ‘’We aim at extending the international cooperation in the transports sector, which will lead to the development of a modern transcontinental infrastructure in the region and to the fostering of the inter-state commerce,’’ Ion Chicu said.
The heads of government pointed out that, in the conditions of the pandemic crisis, imperatives are needed too: optimization of the economic cooperation, diversification of assets, services and sales markets, as well as focusing efforts on practical measures of fighting the infection, on the one hand, and the support of the population and the business, on the other hand.
