Moldovan PM discusses with counterparts from Russia, Kyrgyzstan

Chisinau, 17 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu, on visit to Minsk, today exchanged opinions with Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin and PM of Kyrgyzstan Askar Mamin, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The officials tackled measures necessary to boost the inter-governmental partnerships, especially on the Moldovan-Russian and Moldovan-Kyrgyz commercial and economic dimension.
The Moldovan prime minister confirmed Moldova’s intention to industrialize the country and encouraged the investors with foreign capital to consider opportunities of development of business in Moldova. In the context, Chicu referred to the project on development of those 16 multifunctional industrial platforms.
In the discussion with Russian PM Mikhail Mishustin, Ion Chicu discussed possibility of re-launching the negotiations on the signing of the agreement on loan with Russia, worth 200 million euros. The money is necessary for covering the budget deficit triggered by the pandemic crisis.
Prime Minister Chicu stressed the importance of reestablishing the Moldovan-Russian trade exchanges. The PM reiterated Moldova’s interest in settling the impediments in the delivery of native goods to the Russian market.
Mikhail Mishustin assured that Russia was open for strengthening the commercial and economic cooperation with Moldova and joint carrying out of bilateral projects.
Ion Chicu and Askar Mamin confirmed interest in boosting the activities within the joint inter-governmental commission in the commercial and economic sector. The next meeting will take place in the Astana city this year.
PM Chicu pointed out the goal of modernization of the national railway infrastructure. Thus, he appreciated the importance of the purchasing of 12 locomotives by Moldova, with the support of development partners. The first six locomotives have been recently brought to Chisinau; the units were produced by the Kazakh company General Electric, contracted by the Railway of Moldova following a tender.
