Moldovan government approves draft law on subsidized insurance in agriculture

Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - The government, at a today’s meeting, approved a draft law on the subsidized insurance in agriculture and will submit it to parliament for consideration.   

This law is aimed at stimulating farmers in insuring the patrimonial interests against the risks specific to agricultural activities and protecting their interests in the insurance process.  

Also, the law will regulate the relations between insurers and agricultural producers, which appear in the process of insuring in agriculture, as well as the relations which are established between them, on the one hand, and the public authorities, on the other hand, in connection with the subsidization by the state of the insurance premiums.   

According to Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister Ion Perju, the agricultural sector is quite vulnerable to natural calamities and insurances in agriculture represents a viable long-term mechanism, backed by the state, which will protect the farmers.
