Chisinau, 21 July /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs approved a draft on amendment of the law on the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) at a plenary meeting on 20 July.
Thus, the lawmakers amended the Article 35 of the law on BNM as regards the guarantees and responsibility due to be borne by the members of the National Bank’s leadership bodies, the liquidator nominated by BNM, as well as its staff, if the law court finds out that they acted with ill intention in their actions or omissions dealing with the exercising of BNM’s powers, through creating damages which led to the destabilization of a commercial bank, banking system and hit the macro-financial situation nationally.
The draft sees completion of the present normative framework with a provision which would give possibility to a person employed at BNM to pay from his/her own sources the expenses triggered by the defence of human rights within a criminal, civil or contravention judicial procedure, as well as returning of the sums of money paid by the National Bank, if the law court, in a final ruling, finds out that the concerned employed person acted with ill intention in his/her actions or omissions dealing with the exercising of the BNM’s powers.
