Moldovan parliament's leadership has videoconference with IMF mission head

Chisinau, 21 July /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii, Deputy Parliament Speakers Mihai Popsoi and Alexandru Slusari, as well as the head of the commission for economy, budget and finances, Vladimir Golovatiuc, today discussed, in online format, with the head of the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ruben Atoyan, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.
The discussions were focused on the working out of the new programme with IMF and measures necessary for its launch.
Ruben Atoyan highlighted the fact that, among the pillars on which the programme is focused, was the transparency of the decision-making process and of the governance, combating corruption, strengthening of the state’s institutions, maintaining the independence of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).
Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii gave assurances that Moldova’s authorities were quite interested in the new programme with IMF and would take all efforts in carrying out the agenda necessary for its starting.
Deputy Parliament Speakers Mihai Popsoi and Alexandru Slusari displayed support for the new programme’s basic goals and principles. The officials noted that the political forces they represent would prove constructivism and responsibility in the process of its consideration and approval.
In another context, the participants in the videoconference tackled the subject of the pandemic crisis, which has negative impact on the budgetary situations from all states of the region. In the context, Zinaida Greceanii thanked IMF for providing Moldova emergency financial assistance in last spring, as well as for the efficient long-term cooperation between Moldova and IMF.
