Moldova's authorities, more IT companies sign memorandum on development of education system

Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI) and the Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC) today signed a memorandum with the National Association of Companies in the Information Technologies and Communications Sector (ATIC) and the Public Institution Training and Innovation Centre Information Technology and Communications (ITC) – Tekwill on the development of the education system based on digital competences as response to the crisis triggered by COVID-19.    

Attending the event on the signing of the memorandum were Economics and Infrastructure Minister Sergiu Railean, Education, Culture and Research Minister Igor Sarov, the ATIC executive director, Marina Bzovii, the head of the ATIC Board, Veaceslav Cunev, the director of the ATIC strategic projects/director of Tekwill project, Ana Chirita, the rector of the Moldovan Technical University, Viorel Bostan.      

The memorandum titled, Development of digital competences, IT and STEM during lifetime, provides for the working out of digital teaching supports and endowment of Moldova’s schools with equipment necessary for introducing the digital education at all levels. The document also sees training teachers in the adoption and promotion of information technologies, as well as ensuring the quality and relevance of ITC competences for the professional activity, through harmonizing the ITC education in Moldova with the current requirements of the labour market.   

Presently, the information technologies and communications represent an economic sector which records significant progress. As many as 2,145 companies with more than 27,000 employees work in the IT sector; the ITC sector’s share in Moldova’s Gross Domestic Product is 7 per cent.
