Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC) today received 105 laptops donated by the Global Partnership for Education through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Moldova for the teachers and children who do not have the needed computer technology for carrying out the education process.
Competent minister Igor Sarov thanked the Global Partnership for Education and UNICEF Moldova for the financial support worth 70,000 dollars, provided to Moldova for backing the education system, in the context of the COVID-19 virus pandemic.
„Certainly, the main actors involved in the education process felt the support provided by you, which was materialized in concrete actions, such as the purchasing and distribution of 500 support packages for pre-school children and pupils from the primary school; carrying out distance trainings of educators as regards the work with the parents of the pre-school age children and not in the least, the buying of 105 laptops for teachers and pupils who do not have computer technology,’’ the official said.
For his part, the representative of UNICEF Moldova, Desiree Jongsma, appreciated the initiatives and actions carried out by MECC on the period of the distance education process. At the same time, she reiterated the willingness of the Partnership and UNICEF to provide Moldova with needed support, in order to back the national education system in the complicated conditions triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic.
„It is necessary to remove, as soon as possible, the digital difference, as a substantial number of children and teachers who had no access to technologies and internet for various reasons were not able to participate in the distance education,’’ Desiree Jongsma said.
The computer technology donated is to be redirected to local specialty bodies in education sector from each district of Moldova, in order to be submitted to general education institutions.
