Amendments to First Home programme to be published in Moldova's Official Journal

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - The government decision, according to which the regulation on the enforcement of the First Home programme was amended, is to be published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) from 24 July. Under the decision, the quota of participation was diminished from 10 to 5 per cent of the dwelling’s selling price and the age of the applicants who can apply for the programme was increased from 45 to 50 years.
The amendments also see the removal of conditions as to the lack of the dwelling or habitable space owned not larger than 9 square metres per one family member and giving possibility to access the programme to private people who own a dwelling, but are set to buy a dwelling which exceeds the owned one in terms of area; establishing a mechanism of providing compensations in a quantum of 50 per cent of the balance of the loan left of private people, who borrowed a mortgage loan till the launch of the First Home state programme; changing the size of the compensation for the families with children or, the beneficiaries parents/tutors/trustees of three or more children following the approval of the concerned amendments will be able to benefit from a compensation worth 100 per cent of the mortgage credit (principal sum).
Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Serghei Puscuta said that, following the implementation of these amendments, the number of private people eligible to access the programme would increase. ‘’The considerable increase in the number of beneficiaries will allow reducing migration, the phenomenon of shadow economy through enhancing the rate of official employment in the national economy and the transparentizing of the salary payment,’’ Puscuta said.
Ninety million lei was provided for in the 2020 state budget law for the implementation of the First Home state programme, of which 40 million lei was allocated for compensation programmes.
