Moldovan cabinet to earmark about 5.5 million lei for backing settlements hit by calamities

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Official Journal’s issue from 24 July will publish the government decision to allocate about 5.5 million lei for liquidating the consequences of emergency situations to local public administration authorities.
Under the cabinet decision, the Finance Ministry will allocate, from the government’s intervention fund, 5.49 million lei for liquidating the consequences of emergency situations. The money will be directed to the village councils of Hansca, Pojareni, Costesti, Tipala, Horesti, Chistelnita, Leuseni, Cetireni, as well as the Basarabeasca district council.
The financial means will be used for restoration of roads destroyed by rains, providing material compensations to the private households hit by calamities, liquidation of other consequences of the bad weather, etc.
According to Prime Minister Ion Chicu, the reception of demands for assistance continues, as more settlements were hit. ‘’Or, as soon as these applications are processed and the financial aspect is assessed, the proper decisions are taken,’’ Chicu noted.
In June-July 2020, more regions of Moldova were hit by heavy rains, accompanied by strong wind and hail, which caused damages to dwellings and farmlands from more villages and towns of the country.
