Moldovan parliament speaker meets Russian ambassador

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today had a meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.

The officials tackled aspects on the Moldova-Russia cooperation, including the inter-parliamentary collaboration, coordinating actions in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and backing both countries’ citizens in this difficult context.  

Zinaida Greceanii said that, although the pandemic crisis had adjusted the bilateral and international cooperation between the two countries, the strategic character of the Moldovan-Russian cooperation and of the friendship between the two peoples remained constant, as well as the Moldovan authorities’ interest in their continuous consolidation.    

In another context, the sides discussed the political situation in Moldova and the parliament’s work. The speaker informed the Russian ambassador about the end of the 2020 spring-summer session. At the time, Greceanii noted that the lawmakers continued working, including within the standing commissions.     

The officials discussed also other important topical subjects of the cooperation between the authorities of Moldova and Russia. The sides spoke out for continuing and boosting the Moldovan-Russian interaction on all dimensions.
