Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today met local public authorities from the north-western Glodeni district, in order to collect facts about the situation of those 35 villages from the district, problems faced and projects on the region’s development, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM was informed that the district’s main problem was dealing with water supply. Presently, the Glodeni town is provided with water through the sugar mill, which is in procedure of insolvency. ‘’The settlement of the water supply problem is the most important at present. Also, there is a cross-border project, valid for four districts of the country. It is a joint project with the Romanian side. We hope to advance in this direction,’’ Ion Chicu said.
The civil servants discussed the epidemiological situation in the district and the need to supply the reserves of protection equipment from the district hospital.
The development of roads’ infrastructure was another important subject tackled. The PM specified that three times more money had been earmarked from the budget this year – 21.6 million lei, for the repair of roads in Glodeni. Another 16 million lei was provided for in the Road Fund, with 80 per cent presently turned to account for roads’ capital repair. More than 13 km of road will be reconstructed in all. The sides also discussed farmers’ problems, as well as measures of revitalizing the economy in the Glodeni district.
The prime minister continued his visit at a ground identified for the construction of the Glodeni-based Multifunctional Industrial Platform. It has an area of 6.2 hectares and is placed outside the town and has a friendly position, with connection to the national road. The expenses for the ground’s connection to the infrastructure utilities (water, electricity, gas) reach about 644,000 lei. Additionally, it is necessary to build ways of access to the ground and carry out cadastral works.
"We hope to revitalize the economy in the Glodeni district through this project. Any enterprise, especially the industrial one, which brings value added, means jobs, taxes, revenues to budgets and certainly, salaries. If you do not give the citizen a well-paid job, then he/she has no hope to remain in the country. Or, the problem of exodus has not disappeared; namely therefore, we must come up with such proposals,’’ Ion Chicu said.
The government will create 16 industrial platforms in Moldova’s district centres, in order to enhance the competitiveness regionally. The platforms will directly contribute to the development of small- and medium-sized enterprises, implementation of modern technologies, as well as to the creation of jobs. The cabinet allocated 50 million lei to connect the platforms to utilities. The PM urged the mayors to actively get involved in the attraction of foreign investments in platforms.
