Preperations for holding presidential elections at polling stations outside Moldova discussed at Foreign Affairs Ministry

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea today held a meeting in videoconference format with the heads of the Moldova’s diplomatic missions and consular offices on the organization of the presidential elections, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The minister discussed practical aspects of organizing the ballot in next autumn, in line with the national legal provisions and in coordination with the competent authorities of the residence countries.
The Moldovan diplomacy head demanded consultation of the partners from the residence countries as to the way of organizing the elections in the conditions of the pandemic crisis, as well as analyzing the experience of other countries, which have recently held polls.
Oleg Tulea reiterated the request to spread, through the information resources of the diplomatic missions and consular offices, a notice by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) on the preliminary registration for the presidential elections of the citizens with right to vote from abroad, by filling in an online registration form, at the column „Înregistrare prealabilă" (Preliminary Registration), on the webpage www.alegator.md.
The participants in the videoconference shared information on the results of the ministry’s communication with CEC’s representatives, as well as experiences of the previous elections held abroad.
Under the provisions of the Central Electoral Commission, the polling stations from abroad are set up by CEC 35 days before the elections at the latest, with MAEIE’s preliminary approval.
