Moldovan premier says emergency state in health sector might be extended

Chisinau, 24 July /MOLDPRES/ - The emergency state in the health sector might be extended after 1 August 2020 too. Prime Minister Ion Chicu made statements to this effect at a programme titled, Moldova în direct, (Moldova Live) on the public TV channel.
The PM noted that a decision on the emergency state in the health sector would be taken by the national extraordinary public health commission today. Chicu also said that, because of the large number of infections with COVID-19, the kindergartens would not be reopened as of 1 August; yet, this might happen starting from 1 September.
„As we see, although we have diminution, it is not the one we want; therefore, the emergency state will be prolonged. We will not be able to open the kindergartens starting from 1 August; this is already clear; yet, we prepare the ground for 1 September, so that we reopen both the kindergartens and schools. We work on the schemes of organizing the education process in schools beginning with 1 September,’’ Chicu said.
The prime minister specified that the pandemic did not beat a retreat and people must adapt to the reality and change their behavior. ‘’The mankind will have to somehow adapt to this new circumstance of life. We should take into account this factor in our daily activities,’’ Ion Chicu stressed.
The PM informed that another centre for sorting people infected with COVID-19 had been opened in the Moldovan capital, as the first one was not coping with the number of demands.
