Slovakia supports medical institutions of Moldova in fighting COVID-19

Chisinau, 24 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation, in cooperation with the Embassy of Slovakia in Chisinau, have provided another five small grants the medical sector. The support came after the approval of the first four small grants and of the extraordinary financial contribution (90,000 euros in all so far) for the Moldovan hospitals and medical centres, aimed at combating the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.     

The assistance was directed to the Balti-based clinical hospital for the improvement of the conditions for the rehabilitation of patients recovered of COVID-19, through purchasing a specialized ozone generator for treatment through inhalation, worth 10,000 euros, the Mother and Child Institute of Chisinau for improving the institution’s medical capacities through buying ten pumps for injection for the regulated supply of nutrients, blood and medicines for patients in serious health condition or during surgical interventions, worth 10,000 euros.      

Also, the Mother and Child Institute from Tiraspol received 10,000 euros for the contribution which will be used for purchasing four pieces for medical equipment meant for the comprehensive monitoring of the health conditions and 40 radiators for disinfectants with possibility of use in rooms, without need to displace patients. 

The Health Centre from Saratenii Vechi benefited from 7.5 thousand euros for the procurement of specialized medical devices, which will enhance the capacities of the local medical laboratory and the Taraclia-based district hospital was financially backed (10,000 euros) for improving the conditions of patients and staff of the infectious diseases department, through buying new furniture for patients’ rooms, place of rest of medical employees and administration’s room.     

Hospitals from other settlements of Moldova have earlier benefited from assistance on behalf of Slovakia. The money was used for buying needed equipment in fighting the new-type coronavirus.
