Export Morning programme dedicates issue to Russia

Chisinau, 24 July /MOLDPRES/ - The efficient marketing can increase the exports in native goods to Russia and the intense promotion is the solution of entrepreneurs from Moldova, in order to cope with the fierce competition on the biggest market of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). This is the conclusion of the eighth session of the Export Morning programme titled, Tradition and Potential, held by the Investments Agency on 23 July.   

In the context of the pandemic, the programme launched in 2019 continues online and has the goal to provide Moldovan entrepreneurs with comprehensive support, informative and practical one, in order to access foreign markets. The session dedicated to the exports to Russia included the pre-pandemic experience of bilateral trade, current situation and the vision of future as to the exports to this market, from the viewpoint of local companies, which represent the top sectors for export.   

„The exports to Russia for 2019 amount to about 250 million dollars, up by 14.32 per cent against 2018. Hoping to increase the aforementioned figures, Moldova and Russia continue developing the legal framework of the Moldovan-Russian cooperation, which consists of 162 bilateral documents and 28 agreements on cooperation with Russian regions. Thus, the Investments Agency has every openness to back the business in its effort to be promoted, to identify new ways of access and cope with the competitiveness on Russia’s market,’’ the director general of the Investments Agency, Rodica Verbeniuc, said.    

Russia ranks second among the main commercial partners of Moldova globally, being the third export partner and second import partner in 2019.

„There are obvious prospects of economic cooperation between Russia and Moldova. Starting from 2014, the imports of products from Moldova have been constantly increasing, which, in our opinion, proves the high quality and the competitive prices against the Russian products,’’ the commercial representative of Russia in Moldova, Vladislav Darvay, said.    

The overall import of Russia grew by nine per cent on the period 2015-2019. Russia is the biggest economy from CIS and has a huge potential; yet, producers should be prepared to cope with the competition.   

According to minister and adviser at Moldova’s Embassy in Russia, Oxana Greceanii, Russia’s market has a big volume of imported goods, including European ones. ‘’Therefore, one of the biggest problems of Moldovan entrepreneurs willing to reach this market is the lack of marketing and personal involvement. It is important that they participate, as often as possible, in exhibitions and promote their goods, as the possibilities of competition are quite big and our producers must prove that they are better, both in terms of price and of quality,’’ Greceanii said.

Export Morning was launched in 2019, at an initiative by the Investments Agency, in order to provide Moldovan entrepreneurs with comprehensive support to access foreign markets. This year, the High Value Agriculture Activity in Moldova project of the U.S. Agency for International Development is partner of the Export Morning programme.  

The present issue of the programme was preceded by sessions dedicated to the export potential of Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic and China.
