Emergency state extended in Moldova till 31 August

Chisinau, 24 July /MOLDPRES/ - The emergency state is extended in Moldova till 31 August. The decision was approved at a today’s meeting of the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission (CNESP), chaired by Prime Minister Ion Chicu, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

The organization of ceremonies, such as weddings or christening dinners, will further be banned in public and private pubs. At the same time, the carrying out of events with the participation of 50 people at the most will be allowed in public nourishment units, in strictly regulated conditions. At the same time, the authorities will allow the carrying out of tourism and recreation activities in open air, such as: cycling, rowing or fishing, with the participation of groups of ten persons at the most.    

„The elderly people, of more than 63 years of age, will be banned from staying in public places without urgent need. At the same time, the activity of playgrounds for children, sports fields, entertainment parks ore leisure zones will be prohibited. The work of night clubs or discos also remains suspended, no matter the name and type of the commercial unit,’’ Prime Minister Chicu said.    

Theatrical, concert and movie theatre institutions, accredited by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC), will be able to carry out cultural events in open air starting from 1 August. Fifty people audience will be allowed to take part in the event at the most. The carrying out of activities at the headquarters of theatres, movie theatres and concert halls remains banned. Yet, they will be opened for artists to hold rehearsals.    

The organization of single mass rallies, with a number of up to 50 people, will be allowed, with the strict observance of public health norms. Sports trainings and competitions will be allowed to be resumed in closed spaces, organized by the national sports federations, without audience and with MECC’s agreement. The presence in public spaces, such as woods, parks, alleys or beaches, will be allowed for groups not larger than three people. The observance of the one-metre social distance remains compulsory.    

The kindergartens, schools, gymnasiums and universities will be open for the admission of pupils or students; yet, the education process remains suspended. The commission approved an Instruction on the preparation for the reopening of kindergartens and crèches. Other decisions approved by CNESP can be found in the Decision No 21 from 24 July 2020.    

As many as 22,105 cases of infection with COVID-19, out of 135,409 samples processed, have been confirmed so far. Presently, 30,836 people are under medical supervision and 6,212 are under treatment.
