Descendants of medical employees dead in fight against COVID-19 to receive allowances from state in Moldova

Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - The decree on promulgation and the law on the providing of allowances to the descendants of the medical employees dead as a result of the medical activity in fighting COVID-19 will be published in the Official Journal today and enter into force.
The following people will benefit from right to allowance: the surviving husband for a five-year period after the date of provider’s death; children till the age of 18 years or, if they continue the education in the day institutions (secondary, vocational or higher) – till their finishing, without exceeding the age of 23 years. If there are no descendants of the aforementioned category, the allowance is provided to one of the parents.
The quantum of the allowance is established depending on the category of descendants. Thus, for the surviving husband – at a level of 50 per cent of the calculation basis; for children – at the level of 75 per cent for each descendant; for parents – at the level of 50 per cent of the calculation basis.
At the same time, the draft sees that the quantum of the allowance calculated cannot be lower than 50 per cent of the size of the average monthly salary on the economy on the date of the allowance’s calculation.
Under the document, the allowance is established starting from the date of death, if the application and the necessary acts were submitted in a term of 90 days beginning with the concerned date.
