Moldovan electoral body sets up electoral councils for 6 September polls

Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC), at a today’s meeting, set up the electoral councils of the electoral districts from Tarnova, northern Donduseni district and Nucareni, central Telenesti district, for the new local polls due on 6 September 2020.

Under the CEC’s decision, the secretaries of the local councils from these settlements will summon the first meeting of the electoral district council for 28 July 2020 at the latest. At the same time, till 1 August 2020, the electoral councils will create the polling stations and their electoral bureaus - till 11 August 2020.   

Also today, CEC established the ceiling of the financial means which can be transferred to the electoral fund of the electoral contender at the new local polls for the office of mayor from these settlements. Thus, the amount of the money will be 5,565.71 lei for the Nucareni electoral district and 20,688.01 lei for the Tarnova electoral district.   

In the context, CEC also established the quantum of the no-interest loan provided to the electoral contenders in the new local polls due on 6 September 2020, as follows: for each political party, social and political organization and electoral bloc – 25,000 lei and for each independent candidate – 5,000 lei. The Finance Ministry will work out and approve the regulation on the way of providing no-interest loans to the electoral contenders, in order to hold the electoral campaign for the new local polls due on 6 September 2020.
