Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu, along with President Igor Dodon and Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii, today discussed the results of the last week, as well as the main subjects on the agenda of the next days, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

At a joint news conference, the officials reviewed all drafts approved at the spring-summer session and found out that most important and urgent drafts had been approved by the parliament. Thus, there are no obstacles in the government’s work. Moreover, the PM pointed out that the conditions for the macro-financial assistance, as well as other commitments of Moldova had been approved too.

The prime minister said that the country was at the final stage of negotiations with the International Monetary Fund. ‘’We have reached agreements on most sectors, including the fiscal one. There are several elements which are to be finished and agreed upon, which deal mostly with justice,’’ Ion Chicu said.

Referring to the situation in the agricultural sector, the PM said the drought had severely hit Moldova. ‘’It is clear that the first-group cereals were affected. More economic agents were hit by natural calamities. Unfortunately, the situation is not better with the second-group crops either. The maize and sunflower crops are practically compromised. Today, we will give the final touches to the regulation on the distribution of the 100 million lei meant for agriculture and which might compensate, to a certain extent, the losses borne by economic agents,’’ Ion Chicu said.

The budgetary situation was also discussed at a meeting with the Moldovan president and parliament speaker. The sides found out that the situation was stable in July, with the revenues equaling the ones from July 2019, which actually confirms the government’s forecast.

The prime minister informed that, this week, the cabinet of ministers was to approve the agreement on loan of 100 million euros, provided by the European Union, within the Omnibus macro-financial assistance programme.

The cabinet members will also consider the government decision on the starting of talks with Russia on loan, after the parliament’s commission has given a positive opinion.

The PM also said that the National Holidays, held in late August, this year would not be carried out traditionally, but would be broadcast on TV.

The prime minister also touched upon the epidemiological state in Moldova. ‘’Unfortunately, the evolution is not good either in the region or in our country. I demand maximal responsibility. We hope that, starting from 1 September, we will reopen the kindergartens and schools, certainly, based on strict instructions,’’ Ion Chicu said.
