Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today conveyed a message occasioned by the 26th anniversary of Moldova’s Constitution, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.

The message reads:

„Dear citizens, we today mark the 26th anniversary of Moldova’s Constitution – the country’s Supreme Law, which legitimates the fundamental rights and freedoms of the citizens, the basic principles of the state’s organization.

This is an event, which re-brings us in memory the glorious pages of our country’s constitutional history and which reminds that the edification of a prosperous rule of law state, where each citizen feels safe and protected, depends on all of us. Each of us should ask him/herself: ‘’What have I done for the state?’’ and jointly, while putting the common interests before the personal ones, edify this state together. We, the country’s parliament, due to our powers, will do our utmost and will provide every needed support to achieve this goal.

At the same time, on this day of major significance, I would like to emphasize that the political interferences with the constitutional processes are unacceptable. The correct and objective interpretation of the Constitution and of the normative framework, on the whole, is foremost, so that the state, justice enjoys the full confidence on behalf of Moldova’s citizens and development partners. The constitutional control, exercised by the Constitutional Court, which, first of all, must observe the Constitution and oblige the others to do the same, plays a decisive role in this process.

Dear citizens, I congratulate you on the Constitution Day and I wish you success, good health, optimism and well-being. May the state’s basic law always keeps the most honourable place in our common home – Republic of Moldova.’’
