Moldovan Constitutional Court gives rare protocol edition of Constitution to parliament speaker

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Constitutional Court (CCM) has made a present a volume of documents titled, Blocul de Constituționalitate (The Constitutionality Block) to the parliament speaker, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Moldova’s Constitution.  It is part of a rare protocol edition and comprises Moldova’s Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the state’s symbols, the parliament’s communication public relations general department has reported.   

”We everybody know that the Fundamental Law represents the foundation stone in edifying the rule of law state, in which the democracy and priority of the fundamental rights are supreme values. May the significance of this day be an extra foundation for us to be deeply imbued with the spirit of the constitutional text, with attachment and consideration for the constitutional principles and values,’’ President of the Constitutional Court Domnica Manole said in a letter accompanying the publication.    

Speaker Zinaida Greceanii thanked for this valuable present and delivered it to the Parliament’s Museum.

The comprehensive protocol edition of the Constitution completed the parliament’s collection of publications dedicated to the Constitution or Constitutional Court, including the Republic of Moldova’s Constitution, translated in more foreign languages, Compendiu al jurisprudenței Curții Constituționale a Republicii Moldova  (1995-2017) (Compendium of the jurisprudence of Moldova’s Constitution (1995-2017)) , ”Constituția Republicii Moldova. Comentariu” (Moldova’s Constitution. Commentary), published with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the work Constituția Republicii Moldova – 25 de ani (Moldova’s Constitution – 25 Years), by Victor Puscas and Valeriu Kuciuk, a collection of bulletins of the Constitutional Court, etc.      

Moldova’s Constitution was adopted on 29 July 1994. It is made up of seven titles and is divided into chapters and sections.

Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grecianii addressed a message to the citizen, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Constitution. The message reads:  ‘’This is an event, which re-brings us in memory the glorious pages of our country’s constitutional history and which reminds that the edification of a prosperous rule of law state, where each citizen feels safe and protected, depends on all of us. Each of us should ask him/herself: ‘’What have I done for the state?’’ and jointly, while putting the common interests before the personal ones, edify this state together. We, the country’s parliament, due to our powers, will do our utmost and will provide every needed support to achieve this goal.’’
