EU to back Moldova in projects for implementing Association Agreement

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union will provide the Moldovan government with support to prepare investment projects for the implementation of the Association Agreement.  

The support fits into the technical assistance programme, Support to Moldova’s government to identify and prepare projects related to the implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.

„The contract is worth 5.932 million euros and will be implemented by the consortium made up of DT Global IDEV Europe and Four Assist, selected as a result of a tender held by the European Union Delegation in Moldova,’’ Finance Ministry’s sources said.   

The project’s goal is to strengthen the powers of the national authorities in preparing the projects, providing, at the same time, the complementarity between the enforcement of the Association Agreement and the foreign assistance.

Among the project’s components, there is the consolidation of the national system of coordination of the foreign assistance and the national authority’s capacity of coordinating the foreign assistance in monitoring the projects underway and prioritizing of new investment projects; strengthening the capacities of the national institutions as regards the identification, formulation, management, monitoring and assessment of projects financed from external sources; working out and enforcement of a list of viable investment projects from the financial viewpoint.  

The project will be implemented starting from 1 September 2020 for a five-year period. The project’s beneficiaries are the Finance Ministry, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry and the branch ministries.
