Moldovan premier takes knowledge of problems faced by northern Briceni district

Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today paid a working meeting to the Briceni district, where he held discussions with local public authorities (APL). The latter set forth the most pressing problems faced by the residents, which have been persisting for more years already, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Besides the lack of medical employees and young specialists, allocation of financial means for the damaged house from Lipcani, continuation of projects on water, sewerage and waste management, the APL representatives referred to the need to repair two bridges on the international road M5, as well as to the restoration of more road segments. The Criva-Balti highway, for instance, has not benefited from capital repair in the last 40 years. Presently, repair works are carried out in nine settlements of the Briceni district.
The district’s leadership informed that, unlike the other districts of Moldova, the agriculture had been less hit by natural calamities here. Nevertheless, the heavy rains and hail compromised 1,407 hectares, of which only 108 hectares were insured.
The PM touched upon the government’s main actions to prevent and combat the epidemic, as well as the facilities provided to farmers hit by the bad weather. Ion Chicu said the budgetary situation was under control and the local authorities and the citizens would not suffer.
„The pressure put by the pandemic on the authorities, especially on the medical system, is big. We will have to adapt the way of work and life. We do our utmost so that, starting from the next autumn, the children return to schools, certainly, by minimizing their risks as much as possible. We will ensure everything dealing with the fulfillment of the state budget’s obligations. Besides, we have preserved practically all state programmes in force, with the investments in infrastructure being priority,’’ the prime minister said.
After the meeting with APL, the PM visited the ground for the creation of the Multifunctional Industrial Platform from the Briceni district. Its area is of 6.5 hectares and the placement is friendly, having connection with the M5 road. Almost four million lei is necessary for connecting the ground to all utilities: water, gas, sewerage, electric energy.
The prime minister inspected also the works of repair of the Andries kindergarten – one of the three pre-school institutions from the town. The institution’s façade and roof have been repaired from the state budget means so far. The arrangement of the territory is to be financed by the Briceni mayoralty. The kindergarten has a capacity of over 200 places.
