Moldovan PM visits vegetable oil producing factory from Balti

Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today visited the biggest vegetable oil producing factory of Moldova, Floarea Soarelui (The Sunflower) stock company from Balti, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The enterprise’s leadership informed about the difficulties emerged in the process of business’ management during the pandemic and the measures undertaken to ensure the financial stability.  

The director of the production firm, Stela Ostrovețcaia, said that, despite the pandemic, the factory had not ceased working for even one day and the employees were working in shifts, so that everybody preserve their jobs and benefit from salaries. The company speaks out for the processing of raw material in the country and export of finished products with value added. 

Ion Chicu expressed admiration for the work carried out by economic agents in the complicated conditions and interdictions triggered by the global crisis. The PM noted that the cabinet would provide support to the companies which ensure the payment of salaries in time and provide opportunities of employment in the present critical situation.

„We face a common task: the one to cope with the crisis and continue revitalizing the economy. I am happy to see that, in this enterprise, which has almost one century of existence, large investments have been made. Moreover, in full pandemic, the factory opened a new hall for packing, thus creating about 60 jobs,’‘ Ion Chicu said.  

The factory’s administration approved the government’s attitude towards the economic agents hit by the economic crisis from the last half a year and expressed openness for cooperation and involvement in the development of Moldova’s economy. ‘’We are ready to help farmers from our country through purchasing of raw material,’’ the company’s director said.   

The Floarea Soarelui stock company from Balti has over 650 employees, with a production capacity of more than 300,000 tons of raw materials per years and over 50,000 tons of refined and packed oil. More than 80 per cent of the company’s production is exported to about 25 states.
