Supreme Commander of Moldova's Armed Forces participates in tactical exercise Blue Sky 2020

Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon, in his capacity of Supreme Commander of Armed Forces, today participated in a tactical exercise titled, Blue Sky 2020, held at the Regiment of Anti-Aircraft Missiles from the Durlesti settlement, Chisinau municipality, the presidential press service has reported.
Attending the event were also the secretary of the Supreme Security Council, Victor Gaiciuc, Defence Minister Alexandru Pinzari, Head of the General Staff, brigade general Igor Gorgan and the command staff of the National Army.
During the training, about 160 servicemen made a march of armoured vehicles and simulated the rejection of an air attack against an object of major importance, by using cannons and anti-air installations. Also, a front magazine of military and radiolocation technology, recently repaired and reconditioned, was held.
The head of state thanked the officers and soldiers for the performance and good results got within the exercise.
The Moldovan president pointed out the abilities proved by the servicemen and the group actions, which contributed to the exercise’s successful carrying out. Igor Dodon reiterated the importance of maintaining at the proper level and the training of military, in order to ensure the national defence. Also, the head of state noted that the National Army’s actions of repair and reconditioning of the military technology fit into the main line with the Moldovan leadership of developing the country and re-launching the national economy.
The Blue Sky 2020 exercise has the goal to develop the capacities of the strength, in order to fulfill the missions and tasks during peaceful times and crisis situations, as well as to test the repaired and reconditioned military technology in the fulfillment of their missions.
The trainings are part of the National Army’s plan of preparations for fighting for 2020 and contribute to the professional training of servicemen and the combat capabilities of the anti-aircraft subunits in ensuring the protection of Moldova’s air space.
