Moldovan government to earmark about 50 million lei for endowing schools with anti-epidemic materials

Chisinau, 3 August /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today participated in a weekly meeting with President Igor Dodon and Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii. The officials discussed the evolution of the epidemiological situation, measurers undertaken by the government to support the agricultural sector hit by the bad weather, as well as the stages of preparation for the resumption of the education process, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

At a news briefing, the PM said that the government would allocate about 50 million lei for endowing the education institutions with medical devices, consumables and disinfectants, in order to reduce the sanitary risks for children as much as possible: ‘’We are in the full swing of the campaign of preparing for the beginning of the new school year. We hope that it will traditional start on 1 September, according to the models launched by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC) and by observing the instructions suggested by the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission (CNESP).’’   

An important subject discussed at the meeting of the Moldovan leadership was focused on the ratification of the agreement on 100 million euros, provided by EU to Moldova, as well as the resumption of the negotiations with Russia on a loan worth 200 million euros. The next step will be their approval by the parliament.  

Ion Chicu informed also about the latest decisions taken at the government, in order to recover the losses borne by farmers. ‘’We hope that, in one week, the farmers, whose first-group crops were compromised, will receive their money, according to the acts presented. The institutions in charge have already started assessing the losses dealing with the second-group crops. If necessary, we will come up with additional allocations of financial means,’’ the prime minister said.

As for the pandemic situation, the prime minister noted that the evolution was negative and the anti-records were renewed day after day in the world too. In this respect, Ion Chicu reminded that the government had extended the package of medical services which can be covered by the insurance policy, among which the tests for establishing the SARS-Cov-2 virus and the antibodies to coronavirus. The prime minister urged the economic agents and citizens to strictly observe the sanitary and epidemiological norms.
