Foreign affairs ministries from Moldova, Ukraine sign plan of consultations for 2021-2022

Chisinau, 4 August /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea today paid a working visit to Kiev, at an invitation by his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s press service has reported.  

The officials discussed a wide range of subjects on the agenda of the Moldovan-Ukrainian relations, as well as more aspects on the regional and international cooperation.

The sides found out a positive dynamic of the bilateral dialogue and opportunities for boosting the cooperation in more sectors between the two friendly countries.

Oleg Tulea and Dmytro Kuleba referred to actions undertaken nationally to counteract the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Moldovan diplomacy head thanked the Ukrainian authorities for the assistance provided to 15,000 Moldovan citizens in transiting the territory of Ukraine, who returned from countries hit by the pandemic. For his part, Dmytro Kuleba thanked for the humanitarian assistance provided by Moldova’s government to Ukraine’s western regions, strongly affected by bad weather and floods.       

As for the bilateral relations, the officials agreed, on the next period, to foster the Moldovan-Ukrainian diplomatic consultations between the Foreign Affairs Ministries. Thus, experts are to have meetings concerning bilateral subjects, European affairs, security policies, international organizations, consular affairs, international law, public diplomacy and strategic communication.  In this respect, Oleg Tulea and Dmytro Kuleba in Kiev signed a plan of consultations between the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry and the Foreign Affairs ministry of Ukraine for 2021-2022.    

Also, the two diplomacy heads discussed the carrying out of practical actions, in order to boost the cooperation in the commercial, economic, humanitarian sectors, interaction at the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border, aspects on the ecology of the Dniester river and work of the Dniester hydropower knot.   

The diplomats reconfirmed interest and full openness to continue the cooperation within international and regional organizations, both countries are members of.   

A special subject of the dialogue between the two ministers was focused on the developments of the Transnistrian settlement process. The sides reiterated the commitments to undertake needed efforts, in order to reach a sustainable agreement within the 5+2 format of negotiations.  

Minister Oleg Tulea conveyed to his Ukrainian counterpart an invitation to pay a response visit to Moldova.
