Three medical institutions of Moldova to be endowed with equipment with Japan's support

Chisinau, 4 August /MOLDPRES/ - The Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) is negotiating an agreement on grant with Japan for the delivery of medical equipment within the programme on economic and social development. Competent minister Viorica Dumbraveanu and Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Yoshihiro Katayama today discussed this project, as well as actions due to be undertaken within the Moldovan-Japanese cooperation.
The project provides for the endowment with two X-ray medical devices of the Emilian Cotaga Clinic and the Toma Ciorba Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases, as well as with an apparatus of computerized tomography for the Valentin Ignatenco Municipal Clinical Hospital for Children.
„I express gratitude for every support provided to Moldova’s medical and social system, both on the period of the pandemic and during years, through such development programmes as: Kusanone, Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), etc. Japan is Moldova’s strategic partner in all activity sectors, essentially contributing to the development of the economy and creation of jobs,’’ Viorica Dumbraveanu said.
For his part, Yoshihiro Katayama appreciated the work carried out by the ministry’s team in the management of the pandemic crisis. He gave assurances of openness for the carrying out of more development projects in Moldova.
The government of Japan is one of the strategic partners of development of the health system from Moldova, with the foreign assistance provided through JICA, Kusanone Programme, General Grand Aid and other individual projects. On the period of the pandemic, Japan provided support to the health system of Moldova through donation of medicines used in the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
