Two Moldovan MPs to participate in Belarusian presidential election

Chisinau, 6 August /MOLDPRES/- MPs Adrian Lebedinschi and Alexandru Jolnaci will take part in the presidential election observation mission in Belarus as members of the International Group of Observers of the Interparliamentary Assembly (AIP) of CIS member countries on behalf of Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The request to delegate two members of the Moldovan parliament to observe the presidential election in Belarus was addressed to Speaker Zinaida Greceanii by Secretary General of AIP Council Dmitri Kobitski, following the invitation from the Republic of Belarus.
Moldova is a member of AIP, along with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.
Taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic, members of delegations are urged to consider recommendations for international election observers in the epidemiological context.
The presidential election in Belarus will take place on August 9. Five candidates registered for election, including the country's current president, Alexander Lukashenko.
