Chisinau, 6 August /MOLDPRES/- A batch of equipment worth over 73,000 dollars was donated to the Integrated Law Enforcement Training Center (CIPAL). The aid came from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Moldova and the US Government and will be used for the physical and tactical training of over a thousand employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who participate annually in training courses.

The batch includes several types of individual and group equipment that will be used in practical lessons within CIPAL.

MAI employees will develop more physical and tactical skills, which they need in the exercise of service missions such as rescue interventions in critical situations, interception, summons, body control, application of special means, including rubber baton, handcuffs, tear gas etc. At the same time, thanks to the equipment donated by UNDP and the USA, CIPAL students are able to maintain good health, developing their speed, strength, endurance and to prevent certain health problems that may occur as a result of professional effort.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the lessons are conducted online. According to the Police Development Strategy, this year, the center must provide initial and in-service training for over 600 non-commissioned officers. By law, every employee of the Ministry of Interior is required to pass specialized training every three years.

„Setting up the Integrated Training Center in Law Enforcement is an important component of the National Police Development Strategy 2016-2020. The donation demonstrates the US Government’s commitment to support the efforts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs aimed at implementing this plan ", representative of the US Embassy in Moldova Timothy Buckley said.

CIPAL was set up in 2018 and recently merged in 2020 with the Police Academy. In 2019, CIPAL received assistance worth about 59 thousand dollars from UNDP and the USA for the operationalization of the training process.
