Chisinau, 12 August /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Ion Chicu convened a meeting today to consider water supply in Glodeni district. Attending the event were officials of MADRM, ADR Nord and the district head and mayor, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Glodeni is provided with water and sewerage systems through the Sugar Factory, from which the local authorities buy water for the supply of households. Currently, the Sugar Factory is not operating, as in insolvency proceedings, as well as the wastewater treatment plant which also belongs to the Factory. The local authorities pointed out the need to identify funds to build a new wastewater treatment plant near Hâjdieni, given that the surrounding reservoirs are already full.
Chicu said that the problem of water supply of Glodeni district must be solved urgently and efficiently, especially in times of drought, when it is a vital issue, aimed at consumers to benefit from quality water and to ensure irrigation needs. To this end, the government intends to implement a cross-border project, common with the Romanian side, which provides for the interconnection of water supply networks of localities in Ungheni, Nisporeni, Falesti and Glodeni districts to Apa Vital Iasi networks.
40 million lei were approved for the project, but its implementation was delayed due to problems in the bidding process. Currently, the North Development Agency announced a repeated tender, receiving six bids that are under evaluation.
The premier demanded the mobilization of all those responsible for unblocking the implementation of the project and the revision of the normative framework on unfounded contestation of the auction results by the economic operators. He also requested the involvement of specialists from the Ministry of Justice on solving the problems related to the insolvency of the Sugar Factory in Glodeni.
