Moldovan government holds meeting

Chisinau, 12 August /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Ion Chicu chaired a cabinet meeting today and approved creation of the National Agency for the Development of Youth Programs and Activities, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The institution will be created under the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research and will have to work out mechanisms, policies and programs to provide young people with as many development opportunities in the country.

At the same time, the government approved the concept of the Education Management Information System (SIME). It will include up-to-date information about the education system, which will be the basis for the elaboration of state policies. The information system will become the only source with true data on the education system in the country.

The government also decided today to earmark 7.8 million lei for granting one-off allowance for 487 employees of state institutions, infected with the Covid-19 virus at work. It is equivalent to 16,000 lei. Among the beneficiaries are employees of the medical system, justice sector, defense, internal affairs, ANSA and the district councils of Cahul, Glodeni, Edineț and others. The funds are allocated from the Government Intervention Fund.

Also, another 3.2 million lei will be distributed to public administration authorities to liquidate the consequences of natural disasters. Of these, 2.1 million lei are provided for Ialoveni district council to restore the roads affected by heavy rains, and Ștefan-Vodă district - 73 thousand lei for the compensation of households affected by the rains.

The government has ratified the Framework Loan Agreement between Moldova and the Development Bank of the Council of Europe for the implementation of the project Emergency Response to COVID-19 and Support for Small and Medium Enterprises, signed on July 29, 2020. The agreement involves the provision of a loan to our country worth 70 million euros.

For the health sector, 40 million euros are provided for purchase of medical equipment and consumables, rehabilitation and transformation of medical spaces / units. Another 30 million euros will be used to support SMEs affected by the crisis.

Moldova will initiate negotiations on the Agreement on the cooperation of the CIS member states on the prevention and response to public health emergencies.

Thus, the CIS member countries will boost cooperation relations in the health care and the development of the necessary legal framework.

The agreement will regulate the procedure for providing the necessary assistance to the CIS member states in managing the epidemiological situation; the conditions, type and volume of assistance requested; exchange of information on research work in the field, as well as joint training of specialists.

The cabinet approved the amendments to the Law on subsidized insurance of risks in agriculture. The project provides for the subsidization of farmers who have registered losses not only to the quantity of the harvest, but also to its quality. Another new element offers farmers the right to pay the insurance in several installments, not just in two as before, and will help increase the amount of the subsidy by up to 20 percentage points.
