Former PM re-elected head of party

Chisinau, 16 August /MOLDPRES/- Former Prime Minister Vlad Filat has been re-elected head of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM). The decision was taken today at the IX Extraordinary Congress of the PLDM, which empowered Filat to take over the party's leadership.
In his message to the Congress, Vlad Filat thanked the delegates for their trust and all party members for the courage and consistency they have shown over the past five years, as the party has been led by Tudor Deliu.
Attending the event were 215 delegates out of 239 appointed by conferences of PLDM territorial organisations from 26 second-level administrative-territorial units. According to the agenda, the delegates made an assessment of the party's activity from the previous Congress, made several amendments to the Statute and elected the party's governing bodies.
