Moldovan PM considers progress in modernization of public services

Chisinau, 18 August /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Ion Chicu assessed today progress in implementing the activities carried out in the modernization of public services for February - June 2020.  Attending the event were representatives of the institutions involved in the process, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Chicu congratulated on the 10th anniversary of the founding of the e-Government Agency, noting that the modernization of public services is a major objective of the government.

Director of the Agency for Electronic Government Iurie Țurcanu noted effective involvement of the government in the implementation of the project. During the talks, Iurie Țurcanu informed the Prime Minister that, despite the pandemic crisis, more than half of the actions previously requested were carried out. Thus, out of the 69 planned actions - 53 were fully implemented, 11 are in progress, and five have not been initiated.

The e-government leadership presented information on developing the Information System of the government electronic payment service, MPay. The extension of the service provides new features such as: possibility to pay utilities, paying pensions etc. The project is to be finalized and proposed to the government for approval.

Also, three new activities were presented to be included in the project to modernize government services. These are: implementation of the electronic archive, mobile electronic identification without SIM and APL platform.

Chicu asked the officials to work out a plan for September - December 2020.

The project Modernization of government services in Moldova, funded by the World Bank, was launched in 2018 and has an implementation period of 5 years.
