Names of winners of National Award 2020 made public

Chisinau, 19 August /MOLDPRES/- The Cabinet of Ministers approved the list of winners of 2020 National Award. The personalities with the most outstanding achievements will be awarded 100,000 lei each, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Prime Minister Ion Chicu congratulated the winners of the National Award. "We thank this year's winners for successful work, especially for citizens and our country. We wish them continued success. "

This year, most awards, six in number, were given to specialists in the medical sector who have demonstrated performance and dedication to the job in the fight against the Covid-19 virus.

As a sign of gratitude and appreciation, awards were given to 3 medical teams.

University professor, corresponding member of the ASM, Constantin Gaindric, became a laureate of the National Award for outstanding results in mathematics and informatics.

In culture, four prizes were awarded, namely: to composer Anatolie Chiriac, for his valuable contribution to the development of the national musical art. Another winner in culture is painter Andrei Mudrea for special merits in creating and promoting national culture. Also – poet Ion Hadarca and actor Boris Bechet.

The National Prize in sports was awarded to Greco-Roman wrestling coach Cucul Mihail for significant contribution to the promotion of Olympic values and the country's image.

The National Award is given annually by the government as a sign of gratitude for outstanding results that have contributed to the promotion of the country's image internationally and have had a significant impact on scientific progress.
