Moldovan government decisions to ensure food security to be published in Official Journal

Chisinau, 20 August /MOLDPRES/- The government will allocate 100 million lei to provide aid to farmers who have recorded crop losses in 2020, following natural disasters, the financial sources being provided by the government intervention fund. The decision is to be published in the Official Journal on August 21.
The government increased from 100 million to 200 million lei the funds allocated from the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Environment. Thus, the government will allocate 300 million lei for the partial compensation of losses for group I crops.
To help farmers get the money faster, the government has simplified the Regulation on way of compensation. They will no longer be obliged to present the cadastral documents, it will be enough to present the certificates of confirmation of land ownership, issued by the mayor's office where the farmers work. Farmers can submit applications by 18 September 2020.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, the drought and hail in the last year have affected about 200 thousand hectares of agricultural land. Most crops were compromised by more than 60%, causing a total damage of 1.2 billion lei to farmers in the country.
