Moldovan top officials laid flowers at Eternal Flame

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/- President Igor Dodon together with Speaker Zinaida Greceanii, Prime Minister Ion Chicu, diplomats laid flowers today at the Eternal Flame at the Eternity Memorial Complex on the 76th anniversary of liberation of Moldova from fascists, the presidential press service has reported.

On 24 August 1944, the Soviet troops won the Operation Iasi-Chisinau and finally released after three years of fascist occupation the Moldovan territory.

Operation Iasi-Chisinau is known as one of the largest and most fierce military operations in the years of World War II. Dodon said that it is our sacred duty to evoke together every year one of the most glorious pages of our history and to express endless gratitude to the liberators, veterans and soldiers who died in this operation.

"We will always keep alive the memory of the sacrifice of our heroes who paid with their lives for the liberation of our country. Eternal memory of the heroes! ", he said.
