Moldovan cabinet to earmark 25.3 million lei to pay benefits to employees infected with COVID-19

Chisinau, 26 August /MOLDPRES/- Over 25 million lei will be earmarked from the government intervention fund to the central and local public administration authorities for granting one-off allowances to employees contaminated with COVID-19 in the medical system, as well as to other employees who contracted the infection during their duties. A decision to this effect was taken at the yesterday’s cabinet meeting.

According to the government decision, about 8.3 million lei will be given to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, over three million - the Ministry of Internal Affairs and about 3.3 million lei - the Chisinau Municipal Council.

Also, money for allowances for employees infected with coronavirus will be offered to the National Anticorruption Center, local councils in the country, Gagauzia executive.

Employees infected with COVID-19 will benefit from one-off allowances amounting to 16 thousand lei, in accordance with the Instruction of the Commission for Emergencies No17 of 13 April 2020.
