He reviewed the achievements made during this period and presented the plans for the rest of the term. He noted he will most likely announce early next month whether or not he will run for another term as head of state. "From the electoral program of 2016, 80-85% electoral commitments I have fulfilled. Yet, there are commitments that have not been met, because parliament has not voted on,” he said.
Among the achievements listed by the president are indexation of pensions twice a year, one-off allowance of 700 lei for low-income citizens, benefit in case of death of one of the spouses for the second person in the family, for at least 5 years from death, increasing the amount of aid for cold season.
The president said that lately when the country is facing the pandemic of COVID-19, several initiatives have been adopted related to supporting medical staff and equipping hospitals, including doubling wages in the health sector, providing one-off aid to state employees who have tested positive with COVID-19, increasing one-off allowances for young specialists going to the rural sector.
Dodon said that the term of office of the president can be divided into two stages: 2017 - June 2019 and June 2019 - present.
"In the first stage, for the first time for Moldova, there was an unprecedented struggle between the Presidency, on the one hand, the Parliament and the Government on the other. The notion of suspending the country's president appeared for the first time, it is a premiere for the whole world. Two and a half years in office was a struggle between the President, the Government and the Parliament. The second stage is one of collaboration between the branches of power. During this period, an effective cooperation between president, prime minister and speaker was demonstrated ", he said.
At the end of the event, Dodon said that the report will reach every family in the country and will be printed as a newspaper.
