Moldovan president meets Turkish official

Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/- President Igor Dodon had a meeting on Wednesday with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu, who is on a two-day official visit to Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.
Dodon welcomed the presence of the Turkish official in our country, noting with satisfaction the ascendant character of the Moldovan-Turkish bilateral relations in all areas of common interest.
The president praised that Chisinau hosted first meeting of the Joint Strategic Planning Group, which is a sub-mechanism of the Council for High-Level Strategic Cooperation between Moldova and Turkey.
This mechanism was created during the official visit to Chisinau in October 2018 by President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, when the Strategic Partnership Declaration was signed. The first meeting of the Council was held in late December 2019, during the official visit of the Moldovan President to Ankara.
Dodon thanked Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his support in solving the problem of purchasing 50 medical fans from Turkey, which are so necessary to our people during this period.
Referring to economic cooperation, the president welcomed that Turkey is the seventh largest trading partner (with a share of about 7%) and the seventh largest investor in Moldova. At present, over 1,200 enterprises with Turkish capital are operating in the country, the investments in the share capital amounting to almost one billion lei.
At the end of the meeting, the president voiced hope that the problems caused by the pandemic will be overcome jointly and it will be possible to organize next year the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to our country.
