Moldovan PM conveys congratulatory message on Independence Day

Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/- Today, Prime Minister Ion Chicu sent a congratulatory message on Independence Day, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The message says:

"Dear fellow citizens,

On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the proclamation of the Independence of the Republic of Moldova, I address the warmest wishes of good and health to all Moldovans in the country and abroad.

Independence Day is the perfect opportunity to give our children a lesson in history and patriotism. It is an opportunity to raise awareness among the young generation about the sacrifices of our predecessors in order to make our country a better one.

Today we mark Independence Day differently.

The reason is obvious - humanity is facing an unprecedented crisis caused by the new coronavirus. Through efforts, the Government is minimizing the negative effects of the pandemic in order to save lives. We are grateful to doctors, police and all people who fight against this virus.

It is gratifying to see that despite the difficulties, these interventions are supported by the corporate sector, civil society, citizens and our development partners. The help we receive from other states is a testament to the goodwill we enjoy internationally.

We saw the current crisis as an opportunity to initiate reforms to revitalize the economy for the benefit of citizens. We are implementing reforms for the development of a quality infrastructure in villages and cities, for the modernization of the agricultural sector, which this year has been hit by drought and bad weather, for the launch of Multifunctional Industrial Platforms that will generate jobs.

Dear friends!

We all want a prosperous and safe country, where we can enjoy comfortable conditions, good infrastructure, quality education and a developed health system. We can achieve this goal together, showing will, solidarity and courage.

29 years of independence is already an achievement, it is an important page in the biography of every citizen and in the history of the country. We want to preserve and promote our national values ​​and everything we have achieved so far in the years to come. I'm sure we will succeed!

Independence Day is the day when we must remember that our strength lies in unity. Let us forget the differences and join forces to work together for the prosperity and independence of our country.
