Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/- President Igor Dodon today sent a congratulatory message on Independence Day, the presidential press service has reported.
The message says:
"Dear citizens!
This year - 2020 was particularly difficult for our country, it was difficult for absolutely each of us.
We have all faced two major disasters - COVID pandemic, which has claimed hundreds of lives and is a huge challenge to the health system, and drought, which has left tens of thousands of hectares without fruit.
Both the pandemic and the drought have hit the national economy hard. Since 1991, Moldova has not gone through such painful trials.
I tell you honestly - it was very difficult to govern the country in these conditions, to identify solutions and ensure the payment of pensions and salaries, to find money for roads and financial aid. I am grateful to God and my colleagues that we have managed to maintain economic and social security.
I am grateful to you, to each individual citizen for your understanding and patience. I want to assure you that we will get through these difficult times.
This year we all knew how to resist hardship, we showed willpower and strength of character and we became harder and wiser. The pandemic and the drought will inevitably end, and we will develop the country with new strength, hope for tomorrow and confidence in worthy future of Moldova.
Dear citizens, I congratulate you on the 29th anniversary of Independence Day!
Be healthy and be kind to each other, my dear!
