Record number of coronavirus cases registered in Chisinau in August

Chisinau, 31 August /MOLDPRES/- Currently, 60 percent of the total number of COVID-19 infections in Moldova is registered in Chisinau.

Representative of the Social Assistance and Health Department of Chisinau city hall Violeta Balta said today at a meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council that "August was a record month of coronavirus infections - 60 percent of COVID infections is in Chisinau”.

According to the official, on 31 Augus 15,125 cases of coronavirus were registered in Chisinau, of which 804 are children and 600 employees of the municipal health system. "The incidence of COVID-19 infection has almost doubled, from 368 cases per 100,000 people in July to 640 cases per 100,000 in late August," said Violeta Balta.

In the context of the opening of education in municipal educational institutions, the official said it is expected an increase in cases of coronavirus in Chisinau.
