Groups supporting presidential candidates begin to register with electoral body

Chisinau, 1 September /MOLDPRES/- Candidate support groups for the presidential election can be registered today at the Central Electoral Commission / CEC /.
According to a press release of the CEC, today, the initiative groups for supporting the candidates for the position of President can submit necessary documents for registration to the Central Electoral Commission.
Under the Election Code, the initiative group to support the candidate consists of at least 25 people and at most 100 people with the right to vote. The group is formed following a meeting, at which the candidate for the position of President of the Republic of Moldova is supported, the leader of the group is elected and the list of members is approved. The initiative group can only support one candidate for the position of President. Members of one initiative group may not be members of another initiative group at the same time.
The CEC, within 3 days of receipt, considers the file and decides on the registration or refusal to register the initiative group.
So far, Andrei Năstase, the leader of the DA Platform, Maia Sandu, the PAS leader, Octavian Țâcu, PUN, Dorin Chirtoacă, the candidate nominated by the Unirea Political Movement and Renato Usatii, the leader of Our Party have announced their intention to participate in presidential elections.
