Moldovan electoral body approves regulation on financing initiative groups to collect signatures in support of candidate for elective position

Chisinau, 3 September /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved a regulation on financing initiative groups to collect signatures in support of a candidate for elective position or to initiate referendum.
According to CEC, the document sets out the conditions and way of financial support for the initiative groups, as well as the procedure for submitting income and expenditure reports to the CEC.
The provisions of the regulation apply to all initiative groups, registered to collect signatures in support of an independent candidate for an elective position in the parliamentary, presidential or local elections, as well as to initiate a referendum at any level.
Private people may donate up to 6 average monthly salaries per economy for that year, and legal entities up to 12 average monthly salaries. For people with incomes obtained abroad, the donation ceiling may not exceed three average monthly salaries per economy for that year.
The initiative group whose activity of collecting signatures in support of a candidate in the election or the initiation of the referendum will be carried out with financial and material resources is obliged to report on income and expenses incurred by him.
The reports received by the CEC will be placed on the official website of the institution within 48 hours of acceptance in compliance with the legislation on personal data protection.
