EU, WHO provided Moldova with 356 oxygen concentrators

Chisinau, 4 September /MOLDPRES/- A number of 356 oxygen concentrators were delivered today in Chisinau, being offered by the European Union and the World Health Organization.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the medical equipment reached the country with the financial and technical support of the European Union and the World Health Organization under the EU initiative Solidarity for Health to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the Eastern Partnership countries.
The 356 oxygen concentrators were distributed by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection according to the availability of equipment and the urgent needs of each hospital in the country. Their value is 253,000 euros.
Attending the event, EU Ambassador to Moldova Peter Michalko said that today's action is a concrete example of assistance to patients in Moldova.
World Health Organization representative in Moldova Igor Pokanevych said that the delivery of oxygen concentrators will significantly contribute to the treatment of sick people and will save those in need of assisted breathing and oxygen.
According to experts, oxygen therapy is part of COVID-19 therapy to restore oxygen levels in respiratory problems associated with brain oxygenation and hypoxia.
