Chisinau, 7 September /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission warns that the deadline for pre-registration for the 1 November presidential election expires on 16 September.
Moldovan citizens living abroad and those residing in the Transnistrian region, have nine days to register prior to voting. No later than 25 days before election day, the voter may cancel the registration previously made.
Citizens are invited to fill in the online registration form, under the heading Pre-registration on www.alegator.md or the official website of CEC.
Prior registration does not entail the exclusion of citizens from the electoral list where they reside. If on election day, the registered person is in the country, he will be able to vote according to his domicile.
Pre-registration allows for the estimated number of voters who will vote abroad on election day and voters of Transnistria. This helps to determine the number of additional polling stations, as well as to estimate the number of ballots.
