Moldovagaz not to request increase in gas tariff

Chisinau, 8 September /MOLDPRES/- Moldovagaz company will not request increase in gas price. The average tariff for one thousand cubic meters of methane gas will be 4,420 lei for the end consumer.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Moldovagaz company, Vadim Ceban, said today that the average tariff for one thousand cubic meters of methane gas will be 4,420 lei, of which 71 percent is related to the price of purchase of methane gas, and 26 percent is related to their transport price.

Ceban said that at the level of the final consumer no increase in the tariff was requested. "For the fourth quarter of 2020, the price of the gas tariff will be lower within 4,020-4,100 lei per one thousand cubic meters. This is due to the fact that there are sufficient gas reserves on the regional market ", he said.

Also, Ceban noted that in accordance with the provisions of the energy package III of the European Union, an independent gas supply company will appear in the Republic of Moldova - Moldova Trans Gaz. "This is necessary for the implementation of the new market rules for natural gas distribution in the Republic of Moldova, which will enter into force in December 2020", he said.

He said that in terms of energy security of the Moldovan state and price ratio, it is more convenient from a financial point of view to purchase methane gas from the Russian Federation via Gazprom.

At the same time, he pointed out that for the liberalization of the gas market, Moldovagaz signed gas transmission agreements with 12 economic agents.
