Intelligence and Security Service requested additional tools of work

Chisinau, 8 September /MOLDPRES/- The Intelligence and Security Service / SIS / requested additional investigation levers and approval of "security warrant".

During a public debate held today by the National Institute of Intelligence and Security Bogdan Intemeitorul Moldovei, the experts concluded that in order to anticipate and prevent security risks to the state, SIS needs additional investigation possibilities, which can be provided by a "security warrant".

SIS director Alexandr Esaulenco said “security warrant is an instrument that provides the ability to operate in extreme situations”. "The provision by the legislators of a security warrant for SIS would reduce the impediments in operational activity that occur in extreme situations, arising from terrorism, espionage, cross-border crime, where delay can have fatal consequences for society and state,” Esaulenco said.

According to Maxim Gropa, a prosecutor at the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases, the security warrant will be issued to allow SIS to conduct special investigative measures.

In July 2014, the parliament discussed in first reading the draft law on security warrant for SIS, which would have established special investigation procedures for this institution.
